WWE NXT star Toni Storm has come out as bisexual – admitting on social media: “it feels good to say it.”
The 25-year-old fan favourite made the announcement during Pride Month, adding that it was “a good time” to break the news.
Her revelation was praised by fans and colleagues alike, with Paul ‘Triple H’ Levesque hailing her in a post of his own soon after.
Storm’s comments came as part of a takeover of the WWE NXT Instagram story by the former NXT UK Women’s Champion, who has enjoyed a storied wrestling career to-date.
Looking at ease, she spoke into the camera, explaining that a number of fans had quizzed her on the topic after she’d been announced for the event.
She explained: “When it was announced that I would be taking over the Instagram for Pride month, I noticed a lot of people were like ‘Toni, are you just an ally? Are you in the community? What’s going on over here?’
“Well, I guess now’s the time to say it — both. I am an ally and I can’t exactly say that I’m straight. I’m bi, and it feels good to say.”
The New Zealand-born grappler travelled the world, won titles and broke records aplenty before joining WWE in 2017 via the Mae Young Classic, a tournament she’d go on to win a year later.
Incredible matches against Io Shirai proved to be a highlight, with the pair carrying on their rivalry when Storm came up short in a quest to claim the NXT Women’s Championship in March of this year.
Clearly looking to empower others, she would later add in a further video: “You should be able to be free and be who you wanna be, and love who you are, and that's what Pride Month is all about.
“You should be proud. Pride! And that's why it's my favourite month."
NXT supremo Triple H would Tweet of his pride in Storm, stating: “Proud of Toni Storm today and everyday. #WeAreNXT.”
It was a sentiment clearly shared among the wrestler’s fanbase, too, with one adding: “This makes me really happy to hear and I’m just so happy for her and proud of her!”
Another stated: “Love to see it, and to see people comfortable to come out like this!”
