A nurse, lumberjack and a retired fishing tackle shop owner are just some of the people who claim to have encountered extra-terrestrial life on earth.

Around 50% of Brits believe aliens exist while 22% think they have actually visited earth, according to a 2021 YouGov study.

And research, commissioned by Beavertown Brewery earlier this year, unearthed how one in three Brits claim they've spotted a UFO.

Half of those sightings were reported to police – and the debate about aliens is now more mainstream than ever with celebrities open to sharing their thoughts.

Last month, Southampton legend Matt Le Tissier told the Pub Talk podcast: “Yea, I am a bit more certain that yes, there are other forms of life on our planet.

“I think there is enough evidence from people who have had experiences and video footage.

“I think there is enough there. Actually, I think you’ve almost got to be a bit wacky to think we are the only people that can inhabit this planet.”

And below, we hear from some people who say they have come up close and personal with aliens and UFOs.

Former Lumberjack Travis Walton has taken lie detectors to prove that he was abducted by hairless ETs with huge eyes who experimented on him.

He claimed he was snatched from the Arizona mountains in 1975 when he went missing for five days.

His crew of loggers were suspected of murdering him until he reappeared totally shaken, saying he had been in space.

The workers all said they came across what they thought was a fire before concluding it was an approaching metallic disk.

Travis said he was knocked down by a blue light from the spaceship before being thrown into the air. He claimed when he woke up he was surrounded by aliens.

In his own words, he explained: “They were small and stature, hairless, and very large eyes.

“It was very blurry and I had some double vision but I could see the outline of these forms around me.

“I thought they were doctors but when my vision got clearer and I could see these were not doctors – I just flipped out.”

Strangers now ask him for selfies in public and he said he was no longer regarded as a “crazy guy” because more and more people believe his story.

Retired Brit Gerry Woodcock believes he “proved without doubt” that aliens exist after an unforgettable experience four years ago.

He was coming home from fishing when he saw “marvellous” flying objects in the sky that were “not of this world”.

Gerry said the extra-terrestrial objects moved slowly for two minutes before shooting off in sync.

The Nottinghamshire man, 89, told Nottinghamshire Live: “What I saw was a big orange ball, about as big as two airliners, followed by two more grey objects. It came from the west and went towards the east. It was unreal.

“The clouds were at a medium height and it was just above them. It was absolutely round, there was no noise just moving. They were not of this world.

"I have seen something that probably no-one else has seen. I looked up and thought 'oh my god' it was marvellous. I was rooted to the ground, I just watched them.

"You can't talk about it because people think you're stupid, I mentioned it to a friend and they said 'you're joking'.

"It proves without doubt that they [aliens] are out there, people think it's a load of rubbish but it's not. They are definitely there."

The famous Roswell UFO crash in 1947 has been researched for decades and the official government line is that an accident involving a weather balloon was the cause.

But witnesses claimed to have seen aliens being recovered from the wreckage.

And one nurse was allegedly traumatised after being told to do an autopsy on an alien body by the US military following the incident.

Glenn Dennis worked at the Roswell funeral home at the time and he said he knew the nurse who soon resigned.

He refused to name her but former detective and military police officer James Clarkson spoke with the man before his death.

He said: “Glenn gave me the whole story, I sat down with him and I would say that in about 30 or 40 minutes, any doubts that I had about the reality of Roswell were gone.

“You just know, when somebody is telling you the truth, I have some intuition of when people are giving their heart when they're telling you what they really believe. He wasn't lying.”

Explaining what Glenn saw, he added: “So Glenn was taking an injured airman back to the base and he pulled in there and he saw all these vehicles and people that he'd never seen before.

“Then a nurse he knew came out of a back room and, and said, 'Glen, what are you doing here?' And she was horrified. She was so horrified that she resigned her commission in the military.

“And there'd been a lot of speculation about where she went. He promised her that he would never reveal her name.

“And when they finally started investigating Roswell, which wasn't until the eighties, when they heard about Glen Dennis, you know, when they heard about him working in the funeral home and being called, people were all over him.

“And he kept saying, ‘I don't want to tell you, I promised I wouldn't, I'm not gonna tell you who the nurse was.’"

    Scouse mum

Liverpool mum Sacha Christie has begged aliens to let her live in peace having had nine sightings of them in her lifetime, the first being when she was just seven.

And earlier this year she exclusively told us she sufferes with PTSD and is sometimes scared to leave home in fear of being abducted.

However, she does go to annual UFO conventions which has helped her accept extra-terrestrial life forms.

The 51-year-old said her worst experience was during a holiday to Wales in 1997.

And explaining in her own words, the mum-of-five said: “It’s very hard to explain my encounters, as it’s hard for me to believe what I’ve seen.

“I’ve spent my whole life trying to think of other scenarios, of things that it could be, but the only conclusion is that it’s other life forms and UFOS.

“Looking at the sky, it scares me, as I don’t know what I’m going to see next. But I can’t help but check the sky when I go out as it is just a habit now.

“It’s like I have to make sure nothing is going to fall on my head.”

During the infamous Wales trip she saw a barefoot alien run past her while a craft hovered above.

She told us: “Myself, my ex-partner Steve, my son Louie and two of three of Steve’s family members went on a short break to a small remote cottage..

“At one point Steve was pointing at these fluorescent lights in the sky that seemed to be getting bigger the closer they moved towards us.

“As the clouds were so low, the shadows and shape of a UFO made it look like bright rippling jellyfish in the sky.

“Everyone had come out to look at this point, the kids were feeling a bit nervous and the sheep in the field next to us had all eerily laid down."

She added: “Louie had told me that something had touched his foot and I believed him, but I wanted to look at the lights more, to understand what was going on.

“I stood there for another minute or so, when I suddenly heard something running barefoot in the mud behind me.

“All of a sudden, it bumped into me as it ran past and my chest exploded.

“Before I even realised it was happening, I was running back to the house in a panic, in complete hysterical blindness, I couldn’t see where I was going.

“I just knew I needed to run.”
