Flooding could be possible in Nottinghamshire and Staffordshire today after a deluge of heavy rain. The Environment agency has put out three flood alerts for Lower Dove Brooks in Staffordshire, River Maun in Nottinghamshire and the River Plym and Tory Brook.

A low pressure front from the Atlantic made landfall overnight, bringing thunder and rain to parts of the country.

A previous Met Office yellow warning was in place until 4am this morning across the southwest of England, the western coast of Wales and Northern Ireland.

The wet and stormy conditions are expected to die down over this afternoon.
