Teenager, 17, dies in street after police find him with stab injuries

A 17-year-old boy has died after he was found in the street with stab injuries in north east London.

The Metropolitan Police were called to Westbury Road in Walthamstow at 9.20pm on Friday October 23 to reports of a stabbing.

Officers discovered a 17-year-old boy in the street suffering from a stab injury and paramedics treated him at the scene.

Despite their best efforts, the teenager was pronounced dead.

The force are yet to identify the victim but investigators are working to inform his next of kin.

Police have said detectives are in the "very early stages" of an investigation, which will be led by the Met’s Specialist Homicide Crime Command.

The Metropolitan Police have said there have been no arrests in connection with the incident.

Officers are now urging any witnesses to come forward and asked anyone with information to call the police.

The boy’s death marks the 13th murder of a teenager in the capital this year.

A Met Police spokesman said: "Officers were called at 9.20pm on Friday to Westbury Road, Walthamstow, after a 17-year-old boy was found suffering from a stab injury.

"He was treated by paramedics at the scene but, despite their best efforts, he was pronounced dead.

"Officers are working to establish his identity and inform his next of kin. At this very early stage there have been no arrests."

He added: "A crime scene is in place and an investigation is in progress, led by detectives from the Met’s Specialist Crime Command (Homicide).

"Any witnesses or those with information are asked to call police."
