Even people who appear to be unaffected by the events since the pandemic hit may be feeling anxious or worried.

The Every Mind Matters website, endorsed by the NHS, is a great place to start and at the heart of it is the Your Mind Plan quiz with its simple questions.


It's designed to offer bespoke tips to help you feel better. The ideas suggested as a result of your answers vary from, for example, a ten-minute progressive muscle relaxation audio to help you relax, a short video to help you ‘reframe’ unhelpful thoughts or tackle your worries.

This plan can also be emailed to you for help in the future.

If you or somebody you know is suffering from mental health issues, below are four resources which could help.

1. NHS Talking Therapy

NHS talking therapies, or psychological therapies (IAPT), are effective and confidential treatments delivered by fully trained and accredited NHS practitioners. They can help with common mental health problems like stress, anxiety and depression.

You can access talking therapies on the NHS in England.  Your GP can refer you for NHS talking therapies, or you can refer yourself online at nhs.uk/talk

2. NHS urgent mental health advice and support

If you need help for a mental health crisis, emergency or breakdown, NHS urgent mental health helplines offer 24-hour advice and support for people of all ages.

CALM is the Campaign Against Living Miserably, for people in the UK who are down or have hit a wall for any reason.

4. Samaritans

Freecall 116 123 for confidential emotional support for people in distress.

5. AnxietyUK

Access discounted one-to-one therapy services and free downloadable booklets on subjects such as coping with stress and anxiety. Anxietyuk.org.uk
