A suspect wielding a machete in Denver on Thursday morning was hit by a patrol vehicle and the suspect suffered serious leg injuries, police said.
The incident happened in the 10900 block of East Smith Road, according to police, near the Denver County Jail.
Officers responded to a “weapons call” and encountered a person armed with a machete, police said in a 5:13 a.m. Twitter post.
“It appears the suspect in this incident was advancing towards officers in a threatening manner when an officer struck the suspect with his vehicle in order to disarm and take the suspect into custody,” police said.
The officer who struck the suspect will be placed on administrative leave, police said. An investigation is ongoing.
