A lavish 30th birthday party was held for an Irish gangster, who was shot dead in April.
Family and friends enjoyed a rave-up alongside James Whelan's grave in Dardistown Cemetery, near Dublin, with floral tributes, champagne, balloons and fireworks.
The father-of-one’s mum Sonya was in attendance, along with his beloved dog as they all came together to remember ‘Whela’, who was gunned down on April 3, believed murdered as part of a feud involving the Finglas-based drug dealer Mr Flashy, the Irish Mirror reports.

A 90-second video of the celebrations saw one of ‘Whela’s’ friends write: “Happy birthday to the boss. We all love and miss you terribly. No doubt you’re celebrating in style up there like always. With us every step of the way.”
The video is captioned with “Always the best for our king” as balloons and fireworks were let off.
Blue and white floral arrangements with the word ‘Son’ and his age with his photo featured are shown on the video, along with a personalised picture frame wishing him a happy heavenly birthday.
‘Whela’s’ funeral was also an elaborate affair, as he was taken to church in a horse-drawn carriage, decorated with white flowers, while he was buried in a golden coffin.

There were floral displays of designer Rolex watches, a Lamborghini sports car and a Gucci cap, but Father Seamus Aherne told mourners: “But here is the fact. The person is in a box. Is dead. Won’t live a new life. Won’t grow old.
“He won’t rear a family. Won’t contribute to society. Won’t add to the flavour and laughter of a community. Death is death. There is nothing ever glamorous or blingy about death.
“Nothing can add glamour to this occasion.”
