Prince George’s final heart warming picture with great-grandfather Prince Philip

Prince George’s final known picture with his great-grandfather Prince Philip was taken by his mum Kate Middleton.

The cute heart-warming photo was shared three days after the Duke of Edinburgh died at Windsor Castle aged 99.

Prince Philip looks well in the snap next to a two-year-old Prince George as the pair ride together on a carriage while the Queen's consort holds the reins and whip.

The photo was taken in Norfolk and was shared alongside a sweet tribute that described Prince Philip as a great-grandfather who had a "mischievous sense of humour".

Prince George's father, Prince William, said his three children, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis, included, hold "special" memories of Philip.

He also vowed to "never take for granted" the moments Prince Philip had with the kids, who saw for themselves his "infectious sense of adventure".

Prince William said: "I will never take for granted the special memories my children will always have of their great-grandpa coming to collect them in his carriage and seeing for themselves his infectious sense of adventure as well as his mischievous sense of humour!"

Prince Harry also paid tribute to Philip, with who he is said to have had a strong bond.

The Duke of Sussex said his grandfather will always be "remembered" by his great-grandson Archie Mountbatten-Windsor and his unborn great-granddaughter.

He also declared Philip the "master of the barbecue" and "legend of banter," who was "cheeky" right until the end.

Harry returned from Montecito, California without his wife Meghan Markle to attend Prince Philip's funeral on Saturday, April 17.

The Duke said: "He was my grandpa: master of the barbecue, legend of banter, and cheeky right 'til the end.

"He has been a rock for Her Majesty The Queen with unparalleled devotion, by her side for 73 years of marriage, and while I could go on, I know that right now he would say to all of us, beer in hand, 'Oh do get on with it!'"

Meghan will not be in attendance as she is heavily pregnant with the couple's second child, a daughter.

An insider with close ties to Meghan reportedly told MailOnline she had a "special bond" and "adored" the Duke of Edinburgh.
