Porn actors filmed having sex on raft in national park face police probe

Four porn stars are facing charges after filming sex scenes in a protected park in Mexico – but some local hotels are excited by the increased attention the scandal has brought to the area.

Mía Marín, Giselle Montes, Yamileth Ramírez provoked outrage last week when they headed to Sumidero Canyon National Park in Mexico, stripped off and got hot and heavy under the direction of actor-director Alex Marín while they all floated on a raft on the Grijalva River.

The group now face charges for their explicit activity in the protected nature reserve.

But it seems no news is bad news for the local tourism industry which hopes the spotlight brought to the area by the X-Rated action might inspire others to travel to the beauty spot.

Hotel bookings have fallen sharply – by a reported 50% – due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, and local hoteliers are hopeful others will flock to the region to enjoy the sights and sounds of nature.

Manuel Niño Gutiérrez, president of the Central Chiapas Hotel and Motel Association, told Diario Cambio that the erotic video could boost the tourism industry.

He said: "In a way, I see it as a promotion to the destination.

"[The actors] are coming because it is a safe place and they chose this location due to its nature."

Mexico’s National Commission of Protected Natural Areas announced on Wednesday that they intended to prosecute the foursome for their explicit activity.

The agency said in a statement: "Films of sexual content were made that harm the image of the icon representing the pride of Chiapas and goes beyond the limits of morals and good customs.

"These images damage the connection that Chiapas have to our emblem, social and cultural since the imposing Canyon is located in the heart of Chiapas as the symbol of our battles and the roots of our peoples.”

Director and star of the movie Mr Marín had boasted on social media of his plans to film the erotic video with the three women.

The Daily Mail reports he announced in a since-deleted tweet: "What's up, here we are.

"We are going to go to the Canyon to take some super hot photos, which no one has ever taken, it is the first time that models and actresses have taken photos in the Grand Canyon of the Sumidero."

Sumidero Canyon is located north of the city of Chiapa de Corzo in the state of Chiapas in Southern Mexico.

The nature reserve offers stunning scenes of majestic mountains and cliffs rising up across the horizon, wide, gushing rivers, and is home to a variety of endangered animals – including river crocodiles, spider monkeys and ocelots.
