Denver police have arrested a 40-year-old parolee in the fatal shooting of a woman over the weekend.
Cornelius Haney has been arrested for investigation of second-degree murder and felony murder in connection with the Saturday homicide, said Doug Schepman, Denver police spokesman.
Haney was on parole for an Arapahoe County robbery conviction in 2014 when he was arrested Sunday, according to Colorado Department of Corrections and court records.
The shooting occurred in an alley near the 1400 block of North Verbena and North Valentia streets, according to Denver police.
The woman, who has not been identified, was transported to a hospital in critical condition, police said. She was later pronounced dead at the hospital.
