Motorway cops called to a report of a naked man armed with two machetes in Birmingham city centre this morning sarcastically tweeted an image of the weapons with the caption “All you do is give out tickets”.
The man was spotted running through Birmingham city centre in the early hours of Saturday, September 18, and by chance a unit of the Central Motorway Policing Group happened to be passing through the area.
Together with a police dog team and additional officers from West Midlands Police Force, the officers managed to subdue the suspect.
CMPG tweeted a picture of a machete and a large knife in the back of a police car with the ironic caption: “All you do is give out tickets”.

They added: "When you’re passing through the city centre, and reports of a naked male running around with two machetes comes in, what would you do?
"Detained with lots of barky assistance from @WMPDogs whilst @ResponseWMP headed towards."
Romaori Hylton, aged 23, of Old Snow Hill, Birmingham, has been charged with possession of a bladed article in a public place and was bailed to appear at court on October 13.
Machetes seem to be the weapon of choice for criminals in the West Midlands at present . Shocking footage captured by a car dashboard camera on September showed a horrifying brawl out on a Birmingham roundabout, with an unarmed man being viciously by two men carrying large bladed weapons.
On August 29, a search of two robbery suspects in the Stetchford area yielded another of the fearsome weapons, and an almost identical machete was seized by police in the same area just ten days earlier.
And just this week 20-year-old Marshall Tricklebank was jailed for for nine years and six months following a machete rampage in Stetchford where he attacked the family of a girl that had rejected him.
