Melania Trump walks away as Donald Trump waves

Mr and Mrs Trump were married in a traditional ceremony on Saturday, January 22, 2005. On Wednesday, the couple left Washington to fly to Mr Trump’s Mar-a-Lago ahead of Mr Biden’s inauguration. Former aides to Mrs Trump have claimed the couple are set to divorce in the wake of the former President’s election defeat.

A clip of the First Lady leaving her husband after they stepped off Air Force One was shared on social media, with users joking she is “totally done”.

One said: “Melania is totally done. She already quit posing.”

One user said: “That’s a divorce move haha.”

In 2005, Mr and Mrs Trump tied the knot at The Episcopal Church of Bethesda-by-the-Sea in Palm Beach, Florida.

After the ceremony, they held a star-studded reception at Mar-a-Lago’s 17,000 square foot ballroom.

In attendance was musicians Tony Bennett, Joan Rivers, Snoop Dogg and Billy Joel, as well as Barbara Walters and Simon Cowell among other celebrities.

The Grammy award-winning Mr Joel serenaded the newlyweds with his song ‘Just The Way You Are’.

Mr Trump was asked at the time by the New York Post whether he thought his relationship with Melania would last.

The then-businessman had two divorces to Ivanka Trump and Marla Maples, in 1992 and 1999 respectively.

The future President replied: “I think it will be very successful.”

The Post also reported Mr Trump told golf buddies Donald Trump Jr and Billy Bush on his wedding day: “I keep forgetting that I’m getting married later today.”

Former aides also suggested Mrs Trump will split from the ex-President.

Omarosa Manigault Newman, ex-aide to the former First Lady, said in November: “Melania is counting every minute until he is out of office and she can divorce.

“If Melania were to try to pull the ultimate humiliation and leave while he’s in office, he would find a way to punish her.”

She added later to ITV’s Lorraine Mrs Trump is “repulsed’ by her husband.

Sources also told CNN the former First Lady slept in a separate bedroom to Mr Trump for the “majority” of their time at the White House.

A source said: “Donald Trump slept in his own bedroom, which was previously a study or den during other administrations.”

Others said to CNN Mrs Trump was “not sad to be leaving” Washington, and added she had “checked out” during the final weeks of the Trump administration.
