A man was shot dead inside a vehicle on Monday night and police have arrested a suspect in the shooting.
At about 11:35 p.m. Monday, officers responded to a report of shots fired in the 1600 block of Colorado Boulevard, police said Tuesday in a news release.
Officers found the victim inside a Nissan four-door sedan in an alleyway behind 1601 Colorado Blvd., according to an arrest affidavit in the case. Officers on scene heard a gunshot in the apartment complex and they cleared a stairwell of people, encountering the suspect, who was armed.
Police ordered the suspect, identified as 24-year-old Elroy Blanchette Lee, to drop the handgun and he complied, according to the affidavit. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene. A Ruger 9mm handgun with the serial number scratched off and unreadable was recovered at the scene as evidence in the case.
Lee is being held on investigation of first-degree murder, police said.
