Littleton police shoot, kill allegedly armed man who crashed motorcycle

A man died after a Littleton police officer shot him when he allegedly pulled a gun on the officer after crashing a stolen motorcycle.

The officer was attempting to contact the man about the “suspicious vehicle” at about 1 a.m. Thursday near Powers Avenue and Bannock Street, according to a news release.

The man was driving the motorcycle and crashed, and when the officer tried to contact him, the man “ran and produced a gun,” police said. The officer then fired at the man. It is not immediately clear if the man tried to shoot at the officer.

The man was injured and taken to the hospital, where he died, police said about 5 a.m. The officer was not injured.

This is an ongoing investigation and there is no current threat to the public.
