Line fight breaks out between Rangers, Capitals in wake of controversial Tom Wilson incident – The Denver Post

Days after Washington’s Tom Wilson was fined $5,000 for a controversial incident involving the New York Rangers’ Pavel Buchnevich and Artemi Panarin, the two teams started Wednesday night’s game with a line fight.

Seconds into the game at Madison Square Garden, the three forwards for each team dropped gloves and started fighting.

The incident from the previous game between the Capitals and Rangers became the talk of the hockey world, especially after Wilson was fined but received no further punishment.

The Rangers doled out their own discipline Wednesday, with Wilson mugged by the Rangers’ Brendan Smith on his first shift of the night.

It’s sure to be a game filled with big hits and numerous fights.

Easy to say, these teams don’t like each other.
