Jacqueline Golds heartbreaking last posts were tribute to late hero dad David

Ann Summers's CEO Jacqueline Gold, who has passed away, left a heartbreaking tribute to her recently departed “hero” father in her final tweets.

Following the death of her father David Gold after a “short illness” aged 86, Jacqueline Gold paid a touching tribute on Twitter.

She posted a haunting clip of his beloved West Ham United’s home ground, The London Stadium, with its iconic bubbles blowing from a machine.

Announcing the news about the club’s co-chairman, she said: “The day we all believed would never happen simply because he was so invincible.

“Today we lay our wonderful Dad to rest, it feels very surreal but what is real is the love & support we have felt from everyone, it really does give us strength,” followed up with love-heart hands and prayer emojis.

Following the initial post at 10am on February 1, the day tributes were held at West Ham in his honour, she uploaded a second post.

At 7pm that night Jacqueline posted emotional footage from the day, saying: “Thank you to our friends, family and our extended @westham and @annsummers families for making today such an incredible celebration of our hero #Dad”.

Her final post to Twitter, on February 2, saw her engaging with members of the West Ham community as they paid tribute to her dad, saying: “That’s nice to know. Vanessa is 23/6, I am 16/7, both cancerians x”.

David, who passed away on January 4, 2023, had also been the chairman of Birmingham City Football Club until 2009.

His daughter, Jacqueline, passed away aged 62, a little over three months after her dad.

Awarded a CBE for her work in 2016, Jaqueline had created an empire with Ann Summers, taking it from a handful of back alley stores to a highstreet mainstay.

She had been receiving breast cancer treatment for seven years prior to her death.

A statement from Ms Gold's family said: "It is with unspeakable sadness that Ann Summers confirm our amazing executive chair Jacqueline Gold CBE passed away yesterday evening with her husband Dan, daughter Scarlett, sister Vanessa, and brother-in-law Nick, by her side.

"She was… an activist for women in business, and championed female entrepreneurs with the ambition to better the working environment for women."
