Inside Princess Eugenie’s relationship with Meghan Markle after royal split

The Royal Family has been rocked over the past year by Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s split from the family.

Relationships have changed immeasurably in the wake of the fallout.

And further drama has unfolded in recent weeks following the couple’s explosive interview with Oprah Winfrey.

But despite the turbulence of the past few months, Meghan, 39, is said to still have a "close" relationship to Princess Eugenie, 30.

They are reported to have formed a bond while they were both pregnant.

The Duchess of Sussex even revealed during the Oprah chat, which aired on March 7, she knew Eugenie before she had met Harry.

She said: "Eugenie and I had known each other before I had known Harry, so that was comfortable.

"We're friends with them as a couple."

According to People, Eugenie and her now-husband Jack Brooksbank went on double dates with them after the Sussexes started a relationship.

A royal source told Us Weekly: "Eugenie is really the only member of the royal family that Meghan is still close to.

"They are sort of an unlikely pair but remain in contact. They bond over their pregnancies."

Meghan is currently pregnant with her second child, while Eugenie gave birth to her son, August, last month.

She even had the baby at The Portland Hospital, the same place where Meghan had her son Archie in 2019.

Both women also got married just five months apart at St George's Chapel at Windsor Castle in 2018.

Their friendship follows Harry’s reportedly close relationship with his cousin.

Harry and Eugenie have also been described as the "closest of friends" in Finding Freedom, a biography of the Sussexes.

They have one of the "most natural connections" and have enjoyed "many nights out together" in London, according to the book.

Harry and Meghan have also reportedly been lending their UK home, Frogmore Cottage in Windsor, to Eugenie and her husband.

A source told People they were "delighted to be able to open up their home" to them as they "start their own family".

Frogmore Cottage continues to be the Sussexes’ residence in the UK, the source added.
