US officials have confirmed to the New York Times that members of Iran’s Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) have travelled to Russian-held Crimea to train Russian forces in how to use the Shahed-136 kamikaze suicide drones they have provided. The move is seen as a serious escalation that risks dragging Iran into the conflict as it enables Russian war crimes. Putin’s forces have been using the drones in a campaign of terror that has seen dozens killed in the capital, Kyiv. The drones have been targetting civilian infrastructure, including residential buildings and playgrounds, which constitutes war crimes.
