Horrified mum sees five-year-old daughters hair ripped out by cake mixer

A mother has spoken of her horror after her five-year-old daughter had her hair ripped out when it became tangled in an electric whisk.

The unnamed girl, from Ayrshire in Scotland, had a huge amount of hair torn from her scalp as she baked cakes with her grandmother, according to the Daily Record.

As the youngster leaned to look into the mixing bowl to check if it was ready, her hair was caught in the mixer and ripped away from her head in a ‘split second’.

The grandmother, who was with her at the time, quickly turned the whisk off but around a quarter of the girl's long brunette hair was torn away.

“My mum and daughter have always baked together and it's always been fun and totally safe,” said the girl's mum, who is now warning other parents of the dangers.

“This has just been a freak accident and we could not have seen it coming. She was leaning towards the bowl and in a split second her hair was ripped out.

"Thank goodness my mum managed to act fast and switch the mixer off or I dread to think how much worse it could have been."

The girl was reportedly upset and shocked following the incident, according to her 42-year-old mum.

The mum said the girls have been incredibly brave following the incident as many people would be distraught over losing their hair.

The mum added: “"It's us who have been so upset and she seems to be taking it in her stride. The only thing she was anxious about was going to school because she didn't want people to make fun of her."

Despite losing the hair, the girl did not suffer any other injuries other than her scalp being sore and tender for a few days.

The mum called hairdresser Linzi Bone Hair, who specialises in hair loss treatments.

After hearing what had happened to the young girl, Linzi got the youngster into her salon straight away and used mesh hair integration to completely cover the bald spot.

The youngster will return to Linzi every four weeks until her hair grows back naturally, which could take six months.
