A hero passerby who jumped in to the River Thames to help a woman who had fallen off London Bridge has died, City of London Police said.
The man bravely jumped into the river around midnight on Saturday April 24 after he saw a woman fall from London Bridge.
A second man also jumped into the Thames and the pair attempted to save the woman, MyLondon reported.
City of London police, ambulance services and the coastguard were called to the scene to try to help all three people who were in the water.
Marine units managed to rescue the woman and one of the men who jumped in after her, but they were unable to locate a second man.
A City of London Police spokesperson said the body of a missing man was discovered in the river at around 6am the same morning.
The body of the man is believed to be that of the missing man.
His next of kin have been made aware of the man's tragic death and are being supported by specially trained cops.

The identity of the man has not been released.
According to the River Temperature: River Thames above Shiplake Lock tracker, the temperature of the Thames fell to around 4C just after midnight.
Swimming in the Thames is considered dangerous due to sewage, tides, currents and water traffic.

A City of London Police spokesperson said: "We were called at 12.12am on Saturday, April 24 to reports of a woman in the River Thames close to London Bridge.
"Two men, who had witnessed the woman fall from the bridge, entered the river to try and save her.
"At 6am the same morning, a body was found believed to be that of the missing man.
"His next of kin have been made aware and are being supported by officers from the City of London Police."
