Shocking images showing bruises to Star Hobson just months before her death have been released by police.

The images show the 16-month-old with a huge bruise on her face and are dated to be from July 2020.

Star would later die in hospital on September 22 from "utterly catastrophic injuries" following repeated assaults.

Savannah Brockhill was found guilty of killing Star, while her partner and the little girl’s mum Frankie Smith was found not guilty.

However, Smith was found guilty of causing or allowing the death of a child.

In the weeks before Star’s death, she suffered a broken leg caused by "very considerable force”, reports YorkshireLive.

Consultant pathologist Professor David Mangham, who is an expert in bone fractures, told Bradford Crown Court that Star had suffered fractures to her skull, her right tibia, and two ribs.

He also confirmed that the injuries had happened prior to her death.

The broken leg is believed to have occurred between two and four weeks before Star died from her injuries.

Star also had 're-fracture' of the tibia (shin) bone just three to seven days before her death.

The first fracture of the tibia is believed to have been from a "twisting element of force”.

When asked about the cause of such an injury, Professor Mangham said: "Most likely gripping the leg and twisting."

Star’s skull was fractured around five to 10 days and her ribs had been broken between two and four weeks before her death.

Professor Mangham said the injury to the head was at the back of the skull and described it as a "complex fracture" with one small piece of bone being "shattered" into three separate pieces.

He said the skull fracture would have been caused by "blunt forceful impact".

The jury was shown numerous videos of Star in the lead up to her death, including CCTV footage dated September 13, 2020, which was just days before Star's death.
