A 15-year-girl has alleged she was subjected to eight days of rape at the hands of 20 males in India after she went shopping with friends for a school bag.
The teenage victim told police that she was taken to Jhalawar City in central India on February 25 with her friend and one other person.
She was under the belief they were going shopping but instead, she ended up in a park with her companions where they were joined by two or three other people.
While in the park the 15-year-old girl claims she was drugged and then raped by them.
After details of her ordeal came to light the police confirmed that the girl said a total of 20 people, including four minor boys, sexually abused her over a period of eight days.
So far 14 people have been arrested in connection with the crime, along with four minors have – all 18 individuals have been detained.
It was also confirmed that two senior police officers had been suspended over negligence of duty
Superintendent of Police Sharad Choudhary said the two officers had "failed to act even after 10 days of the crime."
Child Welfare Committee chairman Kaniz Fatima and member Madhubala Sharma visited the survivor's house on Tuesday and took statements from the girl and her mother.
India has seen a number of high profile gang rape attacks make international headlines, only in February, there were reports of a 12-year-old girl who had been gang-raped, murdered and cremated before her parents were held hostage for 12 days in India.
The girl's father said he and his wife were held hostage and threatened against speaking to cops after they returned home to find her in a pool of blood.

He said they fled the house in Kundwa Chainpur in East Champaran, Bihar, overnight on February 2 before returning with relatives from their native Nepal the next day.
And in December 2020 a woman who was allegedly gang-raped by five men claimed she was raped again when she arrived at a police station to report the crime.
The horrifying crimes are alleged to have taken place in the town of Shahjahanpur in the Shahjahanpur District of Uttar Pradesh in India.
