A young ballerina was fatally knifed while walking home after teaching a children's dance class by an escaped convict who was stalking city streets after dark "planning to kill".
Student Ceren Ozdemir, 20, was stabbed twice by killer Ozgur Arduc in December last year despite him being jailed for 20 years in 2005.
He pretended he wanted to ask his victim a question as he approached her in the street before knifing her, grabbing her handbag and running off.
The killer had escaped prison on December 1 last year and told a court he had been roaming the streets in the Black Sea coastal city of Ordu, Turkey, looking for someone to slaughter.
When interviewed about the murder he admitted: “I followed many women planning to kill them. But I could not do it as there were many people around."
He said he had already stolen a knife because he knew he wanted to kill someone.
Arduc pounced on the student, in her third year in Ordu University’s Department of Fine Arts, when a quiet moment struck.
The court heard testimony from the sicko who boasted: “I’m not sorry for what I did."
He went looking for a second victim the next day but he was rumbled by shopkeepers who had seen CCTV footage shared by police of him following his victim.
While bundling him into a cop car the brute attacked the police, causing serious injuries to two of them.
He was later charged with attempted murder in addition to the charge of murder of the young ballerina.
The court convicted him of the murder of the young woman and sentenced him to life.

His attempted murder trial was delayed at the 1st High Criminal Court of the Army for the forensic report to be provided.
The 36-year-old accused was present only via video link-up because of the coronavirus restrictions.
Asked if he had any comment, the unrepentant killer said: "I am very tired that this case has been going on for seven and a half months, let's finish this job."
He was returned to Van High-Security Prison where he will be serving his life sentence for aggravated murder.
