Dog so traumatised by tragic past no one wants to give him a home

An adorable dog is struggling to find a home because of its tragic past.

One-year-old Little Percy has been left so bruised by his past that he thinks every person is going to hurt him.

He has been in a rescue centre for seven weeks now but no one has come forward to take him one, reports GrimsbyLive.

Percy, a medium mixed breed, is currently a resident at Oakwood Dog Rescue in Hull – but it is thought he could have better luck finding his forever family in Grimsby, Cleethorpes or Scunthorpe.

A spokesperson at Oakwood Dog Rescue said: “Percy has lived at Oakwood for seven weeks now, he is not coping in kennels and not making much improvement at all.

“He's constantly scared and only relaxes for a little bit when he is outside with his doggy friends but it doesn't last long.

“Not a single person has expressed interest in Percy so he's just waiting here with no hope.”

Percy will need time to learn to trust his new owners because he thinks “every person he see is going to hurt him.”

The spokesperson added: “Percy has been traumatised by his past.

“He is really scared of all the staff around the centre and is struggling to trust anyone.

“Percy needs a home now where he can finally decompress and start to build a bond with someone. He needs a permanent home.

“Going into foster would only traumatise him more and that's not something he can cope with.

“Percy is far too scared to be around children and does require an adult only home, he gets spooked very easily and a 6ft boundary is a must.

“He is terrified of leads and will not be able to go on walks for quite a while.”

Percy enjoys the company of dogs and needs to live with a friendly female that can show him he doesn't need to be scared all the time.

The spokesperson added: “Can you save Percy, he's never going to improve and settle in a kennel environment, a home is his only chance.”
