High temperatures along the Front Range and Eastern Plains will climb into the high 80s on Friday, prompting a health warning for those sensitive to ozone.
Those warm conditions, mixed with the possibility of severe weather in the afternoon and evening, could make for an interesting weather day.
Scattered storms are possible in the high country and along the plains this afternoon and evening. In Denver, there’s a 30% chance for thunderstorms.
On Thursday, the National Weather Service in Boulder issued an Ozone Action Day Alert until 4 p.m. on Friday.
“The highest concentrations of ozone are most likely for locations in the western portions of the Denver Metro area, and northward along the Front Range and lower foothills through Boulder, Longmont, and western Fort Collins,” the alert said.
The metro area will continue with this pattern of highs in the 80s or low 90s with afternoon storms possible through Tuesday of next week, NWS expects.
