Denver weather: Thunderstorms, cool temperatures before weekend warmup

The Denver area will experience a different kind of shower Friday from the snowy ones that rolled through this week.

The forecast from the National Weather Service in Boulder includes a 40% chance of rain and thunderstorms in the afternoon. Skies, however, will clear up quickly later with some sun. Expect a high of 57 degrees.

Friday night will be mostly clear, but some spots in the plains may have a few showers. There’s a 20% chance of precipitation. The low will drop to 34 degrees.

Saturday will mark the start of three days of warmer, seasonal conditions with clear skies. Wind speeds are expected to be light, and Saturday’s high will be near 65 degrees. Saturday night will have a low of 41 degrees.

The sun stays out Sunday, and the day’s high will climb to 76 degrees. Wind gusts may pick up to as fast as 20 mph. Sunday night will be clear with a low of 47 degrees. Monday winds down the sunny streak with a high of 72 degrees. By Monday night, rain and clouds return with a low of 40 degrees. A chance of rain returns Tuesday.
