Coronavirus vaccine breakthrough: US develops second jab even MORE successful than first

According to early data from Moderna, the vaccine is 96 percent effective.  The drug giant hailed it as a “great day” in the race for a COVID-19 jab and said they would be applying for approval to use it over the coming weeks. The announcement comes after Pfizer became the first pharmaceutical company to announce the results of its COVID-19 vaccine on November 9. 

It said it was 90 percent effective.

Both Pfizer and Moderna used highly innovative and experimental approaches in developing their vaccines. 

Europe’s health regulator said it had launched a real-time review of Modern’as experimental vaccine.

The European Medicines Agency’s human medicines committee has started a “rolling review” of Moderna’s mRNA-1273 vaccine candidate and is evaluating the first batch of data, the regulator said.
