Britain’s most evil killers – ‘whole-life’ prisoners who’ll never be released

Britain has been shocked by some truly awful crimes over the years.

Some of these have led to a criminal being deemed so dangerous to society that they can never be released.

In these cases, judges can order that they are never let out of prison by handing them a whole-life sentence in court.

In England and Wales, a whole-life tariff means a convict will never be eligible for parole and will die behind bars.

These are not to be confused with life sentences, which usually have a minimum term set which means a lag will be eligible for parole after they have served that time.

There are understood to be more than 70 prisoners serving whole-life terms in the UK’s jails, including some of the country’s most notorious killers.

One of the most recent was handed down in January this year, while others stretch back decades.

Here are five of some of the most shocking cases which have led to a whole-life term being set.
