BBC Weather forecaster Stav Danaos warned of very wintry weather for Easter Monday. He noted a new weather front will be moving southwards through the UK from the Arctic. This will force temperatures to fall considerably and bring with it wintry showers, hail and snow for parts of the UK.

Mr Danaos said: “The high pressures are bringing the fine and settled weather for today.

“But it is retreating out into the Atlantic, which allows this cold front to move south into the country.

“That is where we are going to see a marked change in the weather through tonight into tomorrow.

“It is bringing the thicker cloud to the north of Scotland later today with outbreaks of rain and windy weather as well.

“Otherwise it will be a lovely day today with some sunshine in some places after that chilly start.

“We could see 15 or 16 degrees in the afternoon, so feeling much warmer than the last few days.”

The BBC weather forecaster warned after Sunday the weather across the UK will get considerably colder.

Wind and rain is expected to move deeper into the country and force temperatures to drop.

Mr Danaos continued: “Then the weather front in the north sinks southwards with outbreaks of rain behind it.

“The air is much colder with a whole rash of wintry showers pushing down from the north.

“We open the flood gates to the Arctic, it is not often we see this, it is going to bring a dramatic drop in temperature for our Easter Monday.
