BBC Weather forecast thermometers will hold into double figures for most of Friday and Saturday but the breeze will affect the perception of the temperature. Sarah Keith-Lucas said Friday will begin with some frosty conditions but the “glorious” sunshine will quickly warm things up. The BBC meteorologist said: “There’s a frost around first thing for some of us, temperatures are below freezing first thing.
“But sunny skies today, it is going to be quite breezy again, particularly across parts of the southwest of England.
“High pressure still very much in charge of our weather at the moment, a few more isobars down towards the southwest.
“After that chilly start, things will warm up fairly quickly today, the sunshine is pretty strong this time of year. Light winds for most of us, breezier for the Channel Isles, the isle of Scilly towards Devon and Cornwall as well.
“Yesterday we saw temperatures just shy of 18C but we could well just top that at 19C, possibly 20C for some of us today.”

Ms Keith-Lucas continued: “As we head through into this evening and overnight, it’s going to be dry once again, light winds. Do remember the pollen count is quite high this time of year.
“Heading through into tomorrow morning, another cold start to the day but probably not as cold as recent days. Temperatures holding up between that 2C-6C first thing Saturday.
“Through the day on Saturday, another dry day. Again, quite a lot of sunshine, there’ll be a little more cloud drifting in at times across the northwest so the sunshine turning a bit hazy.
“Temperatures still doing well tomorrow, particularly towards the west we could see 18C or 19C but again in the east, it will be a little bit cooler, around 13C.”
Met Office weather: UK set for wind and high temperatures
The Met Office has also forecast chilly starts to the day on Saturday and Sunday but conditions are set to remain sunny and dry.
A spokesman for the Met Office said it will be “dry with hazy sunshine for most” and “warm across western areas.”
Temperatures are forecast to plunge back closer to single figures into next week as high pressure moves on but Britons have been told to prepare for a mini-heatwave in a matter of weeks.

Freezing -3C weather to be crushed as temperatures soar 20C in a DAY [Insight]
British Weather Services’ forecaster Jim Dale said: “There will definitely be some spikes of heat as we go into summer when I expect to see temperatures in the high 20Cs or even the low 30Cs.
“This is largely because of a balancing effect which, after the colder period of weather over the past couple of months, dominated by a northerly airflow, should revert and come from a more southerly direction.
“This will bring more in the way of hotter weather as we go through the end of spring and into summer.
“This summer could be up there with the warmer ones from the past ten years, it is more likely to turn out one of the warmer ones that to be cooler.”
