A 71-year-old jogger died Thursday when she was hit by a vehicle in Aurora.
The incident happened about 9 a.m. at the intersection of East Yale Avenue and South Abilene Street, Aurora police said in a news release.
The driver of the vehicle was northbound on Abilene and made a left turn onto westbound Yale, police said. The woman jogging had the right of way and was in the crosswalk when she was struck. The driver remained at the scene, and investigators do not suspect that drugs or alcohol played a role.
Thursday’s fatality is the 21st death because of traffic incidents this year in Aurora, police said. Eight of the deaths were in auto-pedestrian incidents.
An investigation is ongoing. Anyone who saw the collision, or who has dash camera footage of the incident, is asked to call Metro Denver Crime Stoppers at 720-913-7867.
