Scotland’s First Minister Nicola Sturgeon told the coronavirus press briefing that she has spoken directly to Margaret Ferrier and made it clear to the SNP MP that she should resign. Ms Sturgeon added that she was powerless to sack Ms Ferrier despite her clearly breaking the law by travelling on a train whilst aware that she had COVID-19.
The SNP leader said: “I don’t have the power to force an MP to sit down, no party leader has that power.
“But I can make my views known and – difficult though it is – I have done so, and I hope she will come to the right decision in the interest of the overall integrity of the vital public health messages.”
