Macron claims Brexit is ‘child’ of ‘lies and false promises’
Charles-Henri Gallois, President of political movement Generation Frexit, branded the EU a “total disaster” for trying to block Britain from regaining its sovereignty. Mr Macron led the charge for those determined to punish Britain to quit the bloc, in a move Mr Galloi compared with a “sect that wants to punish the member that wants to take back his freedom”. Mr Gallois, who wants an in-out referendum on France’s future in the bloc, told Express.co.uk: “The EU is a total disaster. I mean the interest of the EU countries from the beginning would have been to have a deal. When you have more than £80billion as a trade surplus, you try to find a good solution for both parties.
“But the EU has acted like a sect that wants to punish the member that wants to take back his freedom.
“They did it even if it would cost you this trade surplus. Boris did well and stood firm.
“Some countries such as Germany feared a no-deal so I think that at the end they put pressure on the EU to get a deal. The EU eventually has caved in.”
The Generation Frexit President said Mr Macron represented the “sect” he refers to, warning it was “stupid” for the French leader to try and “punish” the UK.

Mr Gallois added: “Macron did represent the sect that I was talking about. France has a 12.5 billion euros trade surplus.
“We are neighbours, historical allies that fought together during the Second World War.
“It was stupid to try to punish the UK. Let’s trade and cooperate together.”
Mr Gallois also reserved special praise for the way Boris Johnson stood up to EU demands during the Brexit negotiations, accusing Brussels of trying to “bully and punish the UK” because they are terrified a successful Brexit would lead to other EU nations following suit.
He added a successful Brexit “are the key to help the continent to be free”.
The Generation Frexit President concluded: “I think that Boris has done what you have to do in negotiations with the EU. The EU does not negotiate in good faith.
“They don’t like a win-win relationship. They tried to bully and punish the UK as they fear a successful Brexit that will give ideas for other countries such as France, to leave the bloc.”

“I have many British friends, some of them within the Brexit Party, and it’s great to see them take back control.
“The end of the EU will be great for European countries.
“Brexit and a successful Brexit are the key to help the continent to be free.”
Britain finally completed its full departure from the EU on New Year’s Eve – more than four-and-a-half years after the historic Brexit referendum in June 2016 that saw the country vote by 52 percent to 48 percent in favour of leaving the bloc.
A post-Brexit trade deal was announced on Christmas Eve and came into force at the end of the agreed transition period that had left the UK tied to the EU’s rules on the Customs Union and Single Market for nearly a year.
Various negotiations over the past four years since the referendum came close to collapsing as both sides refused to give concessions on a number of red lines, predominantly fisheries, state aid and the EU’s so-called “level playing field”.
Leading EU figures, such as chief Brexit negotiator Michel Barnier, French President Emmanuel Macron and then-European Council President Donald Tusk, launched several scathing attacks against the UK.
Mr Barnier frequently expressed his frustration over Britain’s negotiating stance in talks, while Mr Macron issued several warnings over demands made by the UK over fisheries.
