Karie Murphy, who was a close ally of the former leader, celebrated the departure of MPs such as Lucianna Berger and Chuka Umunna after they left the party in February 2019. In a series of unearthed Whatsapp messages, Ms Murphy spoke of the work she did to “trigger” a deselection vote against the MPs after the spoke out against the party’s handling of the allegations. Following the exodus of the group in February 2019, Ms Murphy wrote: “F**king idiots.

“All the work I did to trigger them and they leave before I had the pleasure.”

The Labour official also spoke of how the party removed the former chief of Unison, Keith Birch.

After being informed of the group’s desire to depart the party, Ms Murphy allegedly celebrated former MP for Penistone and Stocksbridge, Angela Smith’s exit from Labour in a separate message, according to the Jewish Chronicle.

Commenting on Ms Smith’s exit on February 18, 2019, the messages reveal she said: “Angela Smith is a moron. Getting rid of her made my day.”

Mr Birch was replaced with Ann Henderson on Labour’s National Executive Committee in January 2019.

At his departure, Ms Murphy allegedly said: “We took out Keith so Unison are p***ed.”

Chris Leslie, Mike Gapes, Ann Coffey, and Gavin Shuker were the remaining MPs to depart the party amid allegations of Anti-Semitism and its Brexit policy.

Ms Berger had even claimed at the time, that she had become embarrassed and claimed the party had become toxic.

She said: “I left behind a very toxic party on every level.

“I attended my last Labour Party meeting in October last year and vowed never to go back because it was so unpleasant – it was so toxic, there was no humanity in the room.”

The seven MPs later went on to form The Independent Group, which was later altered to Change UK.

Following the allegations made within Ms Murphy’s texts, the Labour Party confirmed they will now investigate the messages.

A party spokesperson said: “Labour takes all complaints extremely seriously and they are fully investigated in line with our rules and procedures, and any appropriate disciplinary action is taken.”

After the 2017 general election, Ms Murphy was credited with Labour’s strong performance.

Ms Murphy had been nominated for a peerage by the party’s former leader.

Since becoming the leader of the party, Sir Keir Starmer has attempted to restore the party’s image.

Sir Keir has apparently rejected close allies of Mr Corbyn in order to take the party towards the centre-ground.

Allies such as Seamus Milne and Jennie Formby have left the party since Sir Keir came to power.

Ms Murphy’s office has not responded to the Jewish Chronicle’s claims.
