Jake Berry, Tory MP for Rossendale and Darwen hammered the government after a ‘stealth lockdown’ was announced on the Gov.uk website despite no official announcement from the government. His comments come as areas such as Blackburn, Bolton and Leicester are being asked to follow a different set of lockdown rules to the rest of the country as the Indian Variant of coronavirus spread in communites across the North and Midlands.
Jake Berry said: “Well I think we would have to have a very good look at whether this in truth is a bit of local lockdown.
“I subscribe to the view if it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck, more often than not – it is a duck.
“It looks like a local lockdown to me and I am very disappointed in that.
He slammed: “I think if that is the governments new approach then they need to come out and explain it both to members of parliament and local communities.”
Berry added: “And affected communities who are the most part of this!”
The Tory MP continued: “And in truth most people don’t follow the government website in great detail.
“And if you are changing the guidance and it is only guidance that affects people…
“There needs to be proper communciation with memebrs of parliament can communicate it with out consitutuents!”
