The EU’s Diagnostic Medical Devices Regulation is set to come into force on May 26. In accordance with the Northern Ireland Protocol, it will take precedence over the UK’s Coronavirus Test Device Approval (CTDA).
This has been in place since July 2021.
According to the Telegraph, Northern Ireland officials are “extremely concerned” and “strongly against” the move and what it means for the supply and quality of tests for people in Northern Ireland.
